Waveguide modes of the light propagating in four-layer planar structures

摘要：
The dispersion equation for guided modes of a scalar asymmetric four-layer waveguide is derived. Periodicity of modal characteristics is established under the variation of the cladding thickness. The dependence of distribution of the energy hows of various modes in the waveguide structure on the thickness of the guiding layers and cladding is investigated.
