摘要
Product Data and Knowledge management is becoming a hot issue in customer order specific production in extended enterprises. A suitable definition of knowledge is explored and extended into a quantitative formula. The interpretation of knowledge as expressed in this definition is the basis for a description of the function of product data and knowledge modelling and some research issues that should contribute to the realisation of such functions.
