摘要
The paper focuses on the research of language diversity in English diplomatic discourse as a complex communicative phenomenon reflecting linguo-cognitive processes with linguistic and extra-linguistic constituents aimed at achieving cognitive and communicative purposes within diplomatic domain. Terminology theory has defined terminology as a complex system of language units expressing specific concepts and belonging to the theory and practice of a certain branch. Diplomatic terminology is a determining factor of diplomatic discourse and expresses its concepts, which set it apart from discourses with other cognitive and communicative purposes. The discussion of structural and semantic organization of terminological units as well as their pragmatic functions contributing to diplomatic discourse formation is at the heart of the paper.
