摘要
The current study highlights the synthesis of a selective series of cationic symmetric and dissymmetric gemini surfactants (GS) and offer detailed physicochemical characterization along with the biological evaluation of silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) stabilized with GS. The synthesized AgNPs exhibited a typical emission peak around 400-450 nm which gave the idea of its correct synthesis. A shift in the absorption peak of AgNPs was observed after the addition of all GS. Scattering data inferred the presence of nanoscale AgNPs loaded with GS. Microscopy images evidently complemented the scattering results which inferred stability of AgNPs in presence of GS as a function of hydrophobicity. Additionally, as a very little is known about how the biological activity of AgNPs in presence of GS, we examine the antibacterial activity of the same system against various microbial strains where the results showed improved activity of the AgNPs loaded with the GS having different chain length.
