Effects of alloying nickel with d transition metals (Cr, to 22 at. %; Mo, to 9.3 at. %; V, to 10.1 at. %; W, to 7.4 at. %; and Mn, 1.9 at. %) on the characteristics responsible for the production of thin metallic ribbons with properties required for the application of a high-T-c superconductor YBa2Cu3O7-delta have been studied. As such characteristics, we chose the sharpness of the cube texture of the substrate ribbon, its strength properties, and its magnetic properties. In the first part of this work, we undertook a detailed study of the deformation texture, which determines the subsequent formation of cube texture upon primary recrystallization.
