Antibacterial activity of marine molluscs from Portonovo region

摘要：
Ethanol extracts of five gastropod species were tested against nine pathogens. The extracts of (Chicoreus virgineus) hypobranchial gland and egg capsules of Rapana rapiformis exhibited broad spectral antibacterial activities. Both these extracts were also fractioned using silica gel chromatography. The egg capsule extract fractions exhibited significant activity against pathogens, so that this can be used to develop potential antibacterial drugs.
