FRICTION-WEAR PERFORMANCES OF CATHODIC ARC ION PLATED CrN COATING AT ELEVATED TEMPERATURES

摘要
CrN coating was deposited on YT14 cemented carbide cutting tools using a cathodic arc ion plating (CAIP). The surface and cross-section morphologies and phases of obtained coating were analyzed using a scanning electron microscope (SEM) and X-ray diffractometer (XRD), respectively. The coefficients of friction (COFs) of CrN coating under the loads of 3, 5, and 7 N were investigated using a high temperature tribometer, and the effects of loads on friction-wear properties of CrN coating were discussed. The results show that the chemical elements are diffused at CrN coating interface. The average COF of CrN coating under the loads of 3, 5, and 7 N is 0.4318, 1.1586, and 0.4955, respectively. The wear mechanisms are abrasive wear, oxidation wear, adhesive wear and plastic deformation, CrN coating has high wear resistance under the load of 3 N, while it wears out under the load of 7 N.
