摘要
dThe use of high-strength synthetic fiber-reinforced plastics as a tensile reinforcement for glued laminated wood beams (glulams) is now commercialized in North America and Europe. A major consideration in this new technology is the use of a compression based design approach for bending strength. This paper presents an analysis of the compression based design principles used in the design of FiRP(R) Reinforced glulams. The analysis is expanded on by working through a design for a furniture mall in Vienna, Austria, which was load-tested in-situ after erection.
