摘要
In this paper it is analysed the challenge of an Italian motorway concessionaire against the traffic in the North-East of Italy that has increased in an unusual trend compared to the national and EU average in the last years. In fact the concessionaire has planned to invest in the near future large amount of money in the deployment of the network (upgrade from two to three lanes on the Venice-Trieste motorway). Therefore, it is predictable that the traffic during the construction phases could be very hectic, then the situation requires an intelligent traffic management system, to support the management to make decision during normal traffic control and, particularly, during emergencies and not usual conditions too. In this perspective, the company intend to adopt a governance system and the related codes of conduct to operate in accordance with fundamental sustainability values: ethics, transparency, rigour, safety, social development, protection of the environment, flow of information to stakeholders, commitment to safe-guarding the local economies.
