摘要
Multilayer coatings consisting of TiAlN and metallic Ti or TiAl have been designed and analyzed for electromagnetic forming (EMF)-process dies. Multilayer coatings of Ti/TiAlN, and TiAl/TiAlN were deposited on dies in a high ionization magnetron sputtering PVD device. The wear resistance of multilayer systems reflects the evolution of hardness and adhesion. It was observed that the wear resistance improved with decreasing Ti-interlayer thickness for Ti/TiAlN-systems and with increasing TiAl-interlayer thickness for TiAl/TiAlN-system. With increasing the system hardness by decreasing the metallic interlayer thickness, the accumulation in the center of impact cavity was reduced, which confirmed the increase in Ti/TiAlN-layers toughness. The Ti/TiAlN-system exhibited better impact forming behavior compared to the TiAl/TiAlN-system. The application of these multilayer systems for dies in combination with MoS2 exhibited a low affinity to aluminum workpieces in the EMF-process.
