摘要
Healthcare in Ontario is undergoing tremendous change in response to an aging population. Provincial health system funding reform is mandating innovation, efficiency, and streamlining care toward best practices through reduction of practice variation. Rehabilitative care is recognized as a crucial component of an integrated health care system, to return older adults to independent living following illness, injury and hospitalization. This paper describes an approach taken, and results achieved, using data management to facilitate system change from traditional manual system to automated business intelligence (BI) data analytic solution. Providing up to date, accurate system performance data through the use of BI applications (such as a data ware house modeling, integration services, analysis services, and reporting services) allowed health system partners to focus efforts on key system areas which were identified with the greatest opportunities for improvement.
