摘要
A failure model is considered and applied to n-phase brittle materials such as ceramics. Non-elastic behavior of ceramics is considered as a stochastic process that involves cracking of separate structural elements. Application is made to single-phase ceramic with various statistical distributions of the grain sizes. Use is made of an effective continuum and a statistical description of the failure process. The theoretical calculations agree with data obtained from acoustic emission. (C) 2001 Published by Elsevier Science Ltd.
