Assessing the quality of a construction schedule

In this paper, several measures of schedule quality are identified and visual means for assessing them are discussed. They include compliance of the schedule with contract and other planning documents, maintaining construction strategy integrity under all date scenarios. achieving activity work continuity and balanced production rates where possible, and avoiding congestion of resources in work areas. The usefulness of an integrated, multi-view representation of a project coupled with time-space scheduling as a means for assessing schedule quality is highlighted. Multi-story building construction is used to illustrate the concepts presented.
