COMMUNITY RADIO STATIONS IN LATIN AMERICA, A HISTORY OF THE POPULAR STRUGGLES OF A CONTINENT

The history of community radio in Latin America is connected with the struggles of the popular classes of the continent for their emancipation. In a context of oligopolistic media aligned with the interests of the elites, community radio stations become experiences of communicative appropriations from the excluded population. This article examines the history of community radio in Latin America from a contextualization that allows determining how the identity of these media has evolved in accordance with the strategies of social transformation adopted by the popular classes.
