The rules of water management in forests

Water conditions in forests depends on climatic, habitat and anthropogenic factors, including forest management. Prevention of negative phenomena caused by these factors through rational water management is necessary for balanced and multifunctional forest management. The purpose of this study is to present, in a general way, the main issues related to water management on forest areas in Poland. The water management goals, biological basis for water management, the methods and techniques of water management as well as the competencies of users and consumers of water resources in forest areas are presented. Such knowledge is to improve practical use of water resources, as well as to intervene in the event of disturbances caused by extreme phenomena.
