摘要
In 1831 Sir Andrew Smith described a new genus and species of amphibian. Tremeroptigus typicus, from South Africa. The description, which appeared in the obscure and short-lived South African Quarterly Journal, has been overlooked for almost 175 years. Tremeropugus A. Smith, 1831 is a subjective junior synonym of Xenopus Wagler, 1827, whilst Tremeropugus typicus is almost certainly a subjective junior synonym of Bufo laevis Daudin, 1802.
