Yan argues that our reported abnormal negative thermal quenching (TQ) of the Na3Sc2(PO4)(3):Eu2+ phosphor was a pitfall caused by the diminishment in optical path lengths of the spectrofluorometer originating from the increasing volume of the phosphor at elevated temperatures. We disagree with this suggestion and affirm that the negative TQ was an intrinsic property of Na3Sc2(PO4)(3):Eu(2+)phosphor associated with the phase transformation during heating.
