摘要
This study shows that 'context matters' in comparative and international research in education, with specific reference to policy transfer in relation to contemporary Chinese higher education. It draws upon both the potential benefits and the possible dilemmas, which arise from the use of foreign Systems within the context of the reformed open-door China. The fundamental purpose of this study is to address the questions about whether the western higher education system is suited to the context in China and how context matters in practice in China and to what extent context matters m international transfer of educational practice.
