摘要
Evidence for an 8.2 ka event-related advance for an Alpine glacier was missing for a long time. In the light of dendrochronological analyses for tree remains found in front of the Mont Mine Glacier, Swiss Alps, we present evidence for such an advance related to the 8.2 ka event. Calendar dates established for dozens of tree remains place this glacier advance similar to 8175 yr before A.D. 2000. Therefore, this 8.2 ka advance response of the Mont Mine Glacier terminated a nearly millennial-long retreat period with a glacier always shorter than today.
