摘要
The generation of university knowledge is a permanent contributor to the development of world scientific production with great contributions to the solution of a diversity of social problems. The objectives were to characterize the composition of Ecuadorian universities, identify the facilitating elements for the generation of knowledge present in Ecuadorian legislation and relate the dimensions of university teaching activity in the generation of knowledge. A qualitative methodology of a documentary order was used and the UTE university case study. A very diverse composition of Ecuadorian universities was found in institutional and educational aspects. Ecuadorian legislation on higher education reflects a broad content that supports and promotes the generation of knowledge. The teaching and administrative dimensions generate different intensities in the influence they exert to generate knowledge. The Ecuadorian university universe had a very strong turn as a result of various public policies, which boosted scientific production, the institutional consolidation of universities and a greater professionalization of university teaching.
