Numerical simulation of turbulent flow and heat transfer over rotating disks using a hybrid LES-RANS method

摘要
In this research, a fluid-cooled rotating disk of finite thickness is investigated considering varying angular and crossflow velocities. Turbulent flow and heat transfer are modeled by use of URANS, LES and a hybrid method (IDDES). Results revealed that by increasing the Reynolds number substantially, LES-modelling predicts strong divergency from the obtained experimental data even for refined grid resolutions. However, the use of the hybrid k-omega-SST-IDDES model allows a fairly accurate prediction of turbulent heat transfer as well for the stationary system as for the rotating disk even for high Reynolds numbers.
