Studies on the development of ring damage induced by laser cavitation

摘要
Recently, ring damage become very interesting subject to be study. Either the existent responsible due the method of production bubble or due to the changes process of physical cavitation, still not yet known. In attempt to find the reason for such effect a fundamental experiment was carried out by using a single bubble. A Q-switched Nd:YAG laser was used to induce an artificial vapour bubble. The development of the ring damage was study by the metallurgical technique. The results shown that the ring damage increases exponential with distance of bubble to the solid boundary and the number of pits composed in the ring also increases upon the number of exposure.
