Sea-level variations along the Brazilian Coast: A short review

The sea level of the Brazilian coast has been measured since 1781, at that time, for the little known phenomenon of tides and now, additionally to monitor global changes of the present days, that may cause it a great deal of changes in a short period of time. This work reviews some historical aspects on the analysis and prediction of tides and the main characteristics of the non tidal variability of the. hourly sea level, the daily sea level, the seasonal sea level, of the long term sea level along the Brazilian coast. Describes also results of a transference method of sea level and its extremes for inaccessible and not far apart sites.
