Dual-Beam Leaky-Wave Antenna Based on Substrate Integrated Printed Ridge Gap Waveguide

摘要
A dual-beam leaky-wave antenna (LWA) based on the printed ridge gap waveguide (PRGW) technology is presented. A new Fl-polarized 1D-periodic substrate integrated gap waveguide leaky-wave antenna (SIGW-LWA) is designed, which has good scanning in backward and forward quadrant simultaneously. A dual-beam radiation pattern is achieved due to simultaneous excitation of two space harmonics (beta 1-m and beta-2). The beams scanning range for the proposed antenna started from -67 degrees to -35 degrees for the proper wave and 16 to 28 for the improper wave. The peak gains of the antenna for the proper and improper waves are 17.4 dBi and 16.2 dBi, respectively, with less than 1.3 dBi variation in both quadrants. The proposed antenna has wide impedance bandwidth and narrow fan beams through the whole operating frequency band of 59 - 67 GHz.
