Grain refinement and localized amorphization of additively manufactured high-entropy alloy matrix composites reinforced by nano ceramic particles via selective-laser-melting/remelting

Nano TiN-particle reinforced CoCrFeMnNi high-entropy alloy (HEA) matrix composites were additively manufactured via selective laser melting (SLM) and that with a remelting laser-scan strategy (RLSS). The RLSS process promoted the reinforcement-dispersity and thus further refined the HEA matrix grains. The generated hybrid amorphous-crystalline microstructure was benefited by RLSS-SLM to enhance strength and regulate plasticity. The dispersion behaviors and effects of nano TiN-particles were expounded. The amorphous formation mechanism was also discussed.
