Green synthesized zinc sulfide nanoparticles from Tridax procumbens plant extract for improved photocatalytic activity

摘要
Herein, first time we report the green synthesized zinc sulfide nanoparticles (ZnS NPs) were synthesized by using plant extracts of Tridax procumbens. The structural, morphological and composition analysis of prepared pure and biosynthesized ZnS nanoparticles were scientifically investigated by X-ray diffraction (XRD), Field emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM) and Energy dispersive analysis of X-ray (EDAX). Optical properties were confirmed with the help of UV-Visible spectroscopy. The obtained results are found that biosynthesized ZnS nanoparticles are highly suitable as bio-catalysts for the degradation of methylene blue dye under visible light degradation. The photocatalytic behaviour of green synthesized ZnS nanoparticles showed outstanding degradation efficiency with better first order kinetic and stability than pure ZnS. This significant enhancement in the degradation behaviour is due to bioactive compounds present in the plant extracts which influence the growth of structural, optical properties in the biosynthesized ZnS nanoparticles.
