Mechanical property of in situ Al18B4O33 whisker reinforced AC8A composite

摘要
The effect of in situ nitrided coating on the bending property of the in situ nitrided Al18B4O33 was reported. The metallographs of AC8A based composite materials revealed a uniform distribution of whiskers. An in situ nitrided coating was found in the transmission electron microscopy (TEM) analysis for aluminum borate whisker. The interfacial reaction between AC8A-Al and aluminum borate whisker in composites was restrained by the nitridation process of aluminum borate whisker. The removal of magnesium was reduced due to the existence of in situ nitrided coating and the mechanical strength was enhanced by the heat treatment.
