Hardness and Wear Behavior of Electrodeposited Nanocrystalline Cobalt-Phosphorus Coatings

摘要
The hardness and wear properties of electroplated nanocrystalline cobalt-phosphorus coatings were studied and compared with those of commonly used wear-resistant cobalt-chromium alloy pipe. The results indicated that the wear resistance of an electroplated nanocrystalline Co-3 wt% P coating is similar to that of the alloy, but the Co-3 wt% P coating exhibited lower hardness. Electroplated nanocrystalline Co-3 wt% P coatings on carbon steel could be an economical alternative to a Co-Cr alloy in applications that require wear or erosion resistance.
