Experimental measurements of the spectral, amplitude, and temporal characteristics of the dynamic holographic gratings formed in strontium-barium niobate crystal

摘要
Recent studies of the holographic recording and storage of digital data demonstrate the advantages of this method over the existing technologies. One of the key tasks is the search for materials for volume holographic memory. In this work, the study of the laser light scattering by dynamic gratings is reported. A narrow band cw Nd:YAG laser with a wavelength of 1.06 mum, a broadband pulsed alexandrite laser with a wavelength tuned from 720 to 800 nm, and a He-Ne laser with a wavelength of 0.63 mum are used as the sources of radiation. The dynamic gratings are formed in the bulk of SBN (SrxBal-xNb2O6) crystals by the second harmonic of an Nd:YAG laser. In experiments on the probe beam reflection from the induced gratings, the dependences of the reflection coefficient on the crossing, angle of the recording beams inside the sample are measured. The spectrum of the scattered light and the lifetime of the induced gratings are studied.
