The present study is devoted to hydrogen generation at temperatures down to -40 degrees C by aluminum and magnesium oxidation in various aqueous solutions. At -40 degrees C the highest conversion degrees (180 min) are 17% for aluminum powder in KOH aqueous solution and 43.4% for aluminum granules in HCl solution containing CuCl2. At -30 degrees C for MgCl2 solution magnesium powder samples ball-milled with Ni, Ga and without additives yielded 82.8, 73 and 67.2% respectively.
