摘要
Replacing fossil fuels with renewable energy is key to climate mitigation. However, the intermittency of renewable energy, especially multi-day through seasonal variations in solar and wind energy, imposes challenges on the ability to provide reliable and affordable electricity consistently. Iron-air batteries show promising potential as a long-duration storage technology, which can further foster a zero-emission transition in steelmaking.
