摘要
In the fast-paced global economy, SMEs that aim to be competitive and thrive are compelled to enter the international arena, innovate and capitalize on the knowledge advantages. Recent studies show that although SMEs may be tempted to strive for internationalization endeavors, they may find themselves in difficult situations regarding the resources necessary for expanding their operations abroad. In the European Union, under the umbrella of the Small Business Act, a number of measures have been taken to support entrepreneurship and SMEs' growth. However, not all EU countries have managed to perform well. By shedding light on this phenomenon, in this article, we explore the level of Romanian SMEs internationalization as depicted by European documents, with a focus on the internal factors that facilitate or create barriers in this regard.
