摘要
Carbon and oxygen isotope in Cambrian marine carbonate rock preserves a massive amount of information about past climate, particularly temperature changes. In this study, 57 carbonate samples were collected from the Julinshan section with a total thickness of 102.32 m in Shandong Province of North China for their carbon and oxygen isotopic compositions. The results show that the delta C-13(PDB) and delta 18O(PDB) values normally changing with a range of about 1.13 parts per thousand and 0.76 parts per thousand respectively, indicating that these samples record a memory of global scale sea level fluctuations, which result explained why that consists mostly of limestone and shale alternate frequently up to 100 meters through six fossil zones. The most important reason is climate change with frequent alternating spells of warmth and cold; it may relate to global-scale sea-level fluctuations, paleoecological environmental changes, global transgression, and regression events.
