摘要
Resurfacing is one of the important purposes in the functional reconstructions. The latissimus dorsi perforator flap is a good option because of its thin character. New nomenclature of the perforator flap is introduced in accordance with the perforator type and its piercing course. Two perforator flaps can be elevated from the flank; the latissimus dorsi perforator flap is based on the musculocutaneous perforator, and the thoracodorsal perforator flap is based on the septocutaneous perforator. These flaps have several advantages, including minimal sacrifice of donor structure, minimal pedicle dissection, an availability of the thin, large flap, long pedicle, and well-hidden donor scar. The perforator flap is also beneficial for resurfacing a defect after burn scar contracture, malignant skin lesion, or covering an area with thin skin and subcutaneous tissue, such as the hand, foot, pretibial, scalp, and joint areas.
