A Trade-Off between Cost and Performance Reliability in a Cellular Network

A trade-off between network performance and costs, though well studied in the literature, typically only consider the relationship between the initial construction costs and network performance when the network is built. An achievable rate is taken as the measurement for network performance reliability, which is subject to coverage rate and availability of the cellular network. Considering the whole life cycle cost, included the maintenance cost, a trade-off is illustrated between the maintenance cost and the achievable rate by optimizing the allocation and maintenance strategies of the servicing facilities in the cellular network. The optimal solution is solved based on a linear programming approach. A case study is presented to illustrate the application of our model
