Ha Jin is professor of English and Creative Writing at Boston University, USA, and a leading Chinese American writer and fellow of American Academy of Arts and Sciences (2014). He has published three volumes of poetry, four books of short stories, six novels, and a look of essays, and has won numerous prizes and awards such as American National Book Award for Fiction and PEN/Faulkner Award. Commissioned by the journal of Foreign Literature Studies, Professor Jiang Shaochuan conducted an interview with Ha Jin in 2013. Ha Jin, in this interview, expresses his ideas and viewpoints about his own literary writing by referring to his works such as Waiting, Nanjing Requiem, and A Good Fall, and make comments upon literary creation and its teaching, bilingual writing, and reading of literary classics.
