Improving the efficiency of Doppler lidar receiver for upper atmospheric wind field measurement

摘要
Wind measurement in stratosphere up to or exceed 60 km with high time-spatial resolution is scarce. In this paper we report the research on the performance improvement of the Rayleigh Doppler wind lidar (DWL) to detect the high altitude atmospheric wind field. The optical efficiency of the system can be improved by enhancing the transmission of the optical receiver. The deviation of line of sight (LOS) wind velocity that caused by zero Doppler frequency offset can be eliminated by zero wind velocity calibration in real time. The wind measurement experiment with improving Rayleigh Doppler wind lidar has been carried on and the detection precision of wind velocity and direction is up to 10.3 m/s and 29 at an effective height of more than 60 km respectively. The result show that the accuracy of wind measurement with the improving Rayleigh Doppler wind lidar can satisfy the requirement of high altitude atmospheric wind field detection under cloudless night.
