Preparation and Properties of Low-cost α-Sialon Ceramic Synthesized from Boron-rich Slag-based Mixture

摘要
With boron-rich slag, silica fume, bauxite chalmette and carbon black as starting materials, alpha-sialon powder was prepared by carbothermal reduction nitridation(CRN). The mechanical properties of hot-pressed sintered slag a-sialon ceramic, which was started from slag alpha-sialon powder, were measured. The hardness, toughness and bend strength of hot-pressed slag alpha-sialon ceramic reached 17GPa, 3.74MPa.m(1/2) and 333.5MPa, respectively. These properties were close to that of chemical a-sialon ceramics prepared by expensive chemical agents as starting materials.
