Automated control of landfill gas abstraction at small landfills

In the US and some other countries recovery of landfill gas only take place from relatively big landfills, but in some of the smaller countries in for example Scandinavia, landfill gas plant exist on small landfills, maybe with only a couple of hundred tome in place. At the most landfill gas plants the extraction system consists of vertical wells or horizontal pipes connected to one or few main pipe lines from which the gas is sucked and pumped to the utilisation system. In a few plants, an automatic measuring and regulation system is implemented where the gas quality from each single well is measured and the gas extraction will he optimised according to the highest energy output or to other chosen parameters. Especially for small and shallow landfills it can be difficult to have a constant methane percentage without a regulation system.
