摘要
High-gloss injection molded part surfaces - Quantitative topographical evaluation of mold steel and polymer surface. High-gloss injection molded part surfaces are used in design and functional applications. Polymer grade and processing are influencing the surface quality, additionally, a high quality mold steel surface is a basic requirement. 12 different high-gloss polished steel surfaces were evaluated by using white light interferometry. 3D roughness analysis was used to determine 3 topographical quality parameters, which consider different lateral surface defect features like orange peel (waviness) and worse specular reflection (roughness and micro-roughness). Moreover, the replication into the polymers polypropylene and polycarbonate was examined.
