摘要
The popularity a the current Best Effort Internet has fuelled growing interest by researchers to modify the current Internet to make it accommodate real-time multimedia traffic. The Rainbow Services architecture has recently been proposed as a novel QoS architecture for the future Internet. In this paper, we show how bandwidth is allocated to the service classes of this new architecture in order to utilise the network cost-effectively. Bandwidth is partitioned amongst the five service classes. Each of GCR and ADS classes is allocated constant bandwidth values. Each of the other classes is initially allocated a minimum threshold bandwidth but can be increased to a maximum threshold value. We also provide the service interfaces for each service class of this architecture. The Rainbow Services is being designed to allow different classes of traffic to make efficient use of network bandwidth while at the same time guaranteeing the QoS of each traffic class.
