Spatiotemporal manipulation of three-dimensional vector light fields

Vector light fields show many exotic phenomena and applications that do not exist in scalar light fields, but current research of polarization optics mainly focuses on two-dimensional polarization manipulation. Recently, researchers have proposed a novel spatiotemporal manipulation method of synthetic vector light fields based on metasurfaces with asymmetric photonic spin-orbit interactions, which can in principle produce arbitrary three-dimensional vector light fields. This method expands polarization optics from two-dimensional space to three-dimensional space, provides some new ideas for the research of vector light field manipulation and its property in long-distance energy and information transmission, and has application prospects in the fields of focal field manipulation, light force control, laser communication, laser processing, etc.
