摘要
Although there is substantial evidence that a high percentage of juvenile delinquents suffer from treatable forms of psychopathology, which could be amenable to appropriate intervention, only a small minority of child psychiatrists is involved in their diagnosis and treatment. This article offers a comprehensive review of relevant psychiatric research regarding juvenile delinquents, and identifies areas in which the research findings can be applied in the service of more effective work with this population. in addition, the authors provide a useful guide to the settings that constitute the juvenile justice system. Early intervention, a range of available treatment options, the use of realistic settings, and commitment to long-term service provision are prominent among the recommendations.
