摘要
This paper provides a summary of the more technical aspects of the Progress Seminar on 'Developments and Applications of Digital Elevation Models in Environmental Modelling'. In a systems-oriented view of the tasks and functions it has to fulfil, digital terrain modelling is viewed as a subsystem of GIS. The paper presents a survey of digital terrain modelling techniques which are of relevance to applications in the area of environmental sciences and natural resources management, and attempts to project future trends of the technology.
