Assessment of the landscape use changes in the city of Nitra

Paying attention to the intensive changes of the landscape, it is necessary to take into consideration also historical aspects of these changes. Long-lasting landscape changes are analyzed by statistical methods. Author used the method of landscape-ecological stability assessment. He analyzed the landscape development by applying 5 different types of numerical coefficients. Further cognition of cultural landscape is important also from these points of view-strengthening the territorial identity, preserving cultural heritage and objectives of nature protection. For these purposes is the Nitra region very suitable because it represents in the long-term exploited urbanised lowland area. It differs noticeably from the development of cultural landscape use in the mountain and basin areas of Slovakia.
