摘要
Renewable energy sources continue to gain popularity. However, two major limitations exist that prevent widespread adoption: System power reliability under varying weather conditions and the corresponding system cost. The wide range of performance characteristics of storage technologies motivates the use of hybrid energy storage systems (HESS) to overcome these drawbacks. This work suggests a model based iterative design approach to find the optimal sizing of a renewable energy generation system with hybrid energy storage system. Therefore, easy to implement models, based on parameters which can be derived from manufacturers data sheets, are developed. Furthermore, a cascaded rule-based predictive energy management is implemented. The design approach was used to find optimal component sizes, generators and storage systems, for a specific building based on real world data.
