摘要
On the basis of concepts concerning local nonlinear dipole-dipole interactions, this paper obtains improved relationships that describe how the reactive field of a solvent whose molecules possess pronounced optical anisotropy affects the total intensities of the IR absorption bands of the molecules of the dissolved substance. Values are obtained for the local permittivity of liquid Na which characterizes the actual solvating capability of this cryosolvent with respect to polar molecules of a dissolved substance at temperatures of 80 and 120 K. It is shown that the total intensities of the fundamental IR absorption band of a solution of HCl in liquid N-2 found by calculation using the above relationships are in satisfactory quantitative agreement with experiment.
