摘要
Results of statistical analyses of strength and dynamic Young's modulus (DYM) data are presented for installed set and trepanned graphite samples taken from various Magnox reactors. Also DYM data from graphite samples irradiated in a recent Material Test Reactor (MTR) programme are presented. In reactor, the properties of these samples were modified by fast neutron irradiation and radiolytic weight loss. Both conventional decay and threshold models were fitted to these data as a function of weight loss. The strength data showed evidence of threshold limit in strength, whereas the DYM data did not. At low fast neutron dose, both strength and DYM appear to be influenced by the ratio between fast neutron damage and weight loss. The Brazilian disc test is considered to be unsuitable for samples with high weight loss due to localised crushing at the load points.
