摘要：
This paper outlines the results of a pilot study designed to answer the question ''What constitutes a landmark in hypertext?'' This study tested users' memories for locations visited on the World Wide Web. After reporting the results of the study, the authors outline a refined methodology for a new study. By understanding more about users' navigation through hypertext information space, the issue of recognition of informative materials on the World Wide Web may be addressed.
