Spectrophotometric determination of chlorhexidine acetate based on charge transfer reaction

摘要
The content of chlorhexidine acetate was determined through charge tranfer reaction between chlorhexidine acetate and purpurin. Spectrophotometer 721 was used. The reaction between chlorhexidine acetate and purpurin took place in alcohol-acetone. The apparent molar absorptivity was 1.54 x 10(4). L(.)mol(-1) (.) cm(-1) at 545 nm. The average standard deviation was 0.89 % ( n = 6). The Beer's law was obeyed in the range of 0-45 mg (.) L-1 of chlorhexidine acetate. The method is simple with easily-controlled reaction conditions and high sensitivity, and has been applied to the determination of chlorhexidine acetate in tablets with satisfactory results.
